SAS to Join SkyTeam Alliance in September
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will officially join the SkyTeam airline alliance on September 1, 2024, following the signing of an agreement. The move expands travel options for customers.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has signed an Alliance Adherence Agreement (AAA) with SkyTeam, formally committing to join the global airline alliance on September 1, 2024. This partnership aims to create a seamless transition for customers.
The integration will provide SAS customers with access to SkyTeam's extensive network of over 1,060 destinations worldwide. This expansion is expected to enhance travel options, particularly to regions like Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, offering new routes and improved connectivity.
Loyalty program members of SAS, EuroBonus, will experience immediate benefits. Silver members will achieve SkyTeam Elite status, while Gold and Diamond members will reach Elite Plus. This status grants access to over 750 airport lounges and SkyPriority services, including priority check-in and baggage handling.
SAS President & CEO Anko van der Werff stated that joining SkyTeam marks the start of an exciting future for customers and employees. He highlighted the benefits of SkyTeam's global presence at SAS hubs and the alliance's focus on strategic partnerships and sustainability initiatives.
