Satirical episodic film chronicles human history with a comedic twist
Set to premiere on June 16, 'Die Geschichte der Menschheit – Leicht gekürzt' uses an episodic format to parody various eras of historical development.

Directed by Erik Haffner with a screenplay by Chris Geletnekey, the film 'Die Geschichte der Menschheit – Leicht gekürzt' arrives in cinemas on June 16. The production covers 15 distinct historical epochs, utilizing a satirical approach to reinterpret well-known events and cultural figures.
The narrative follows a scientist, portrayed by Christoph Maria Herbst, who attempts to transmit a condensed version of human history into space via the Voyager mission. The resulting portrayal of humanity highlights the species' perceived lack of logic and history of erratic decision-making. The film employs a sketch-based structure to present scenarios such as Greek philosophers reimagined as rap artists.
The ensemble cast features actors including Jasmin Schwiers, Alexander Schubert, and Matthias Matschke. Guest appearances are provided by performers such as Bastian Pastewka, Carolin Kebekus, and Heino Ferch. The film follows a long-standing tradition of comedy episodic storytelling.
