SatPort Infrastructure acquires Speedcast teleport assets to build global network

SatPort Infrastructure has acquired 12 satellite teleports from Speedcast, marking a significant expansion of its global ground infrastructure platform.

3 November 2026

SatPort Infrastructure, backed by the private equity firm EQT, has finalized the acquisition of 12 teleport facilities from the communications provider Speedcast. This deal establishes a presence across five continents, positioning the company as a provider of carrier-neutral ground infrastructure for satellite operators, government agencies, and enterprise clients.

The acquired sites are designed to support a range of satellite configurations, including low Earth orbit (LEO), medium Earth orbit (MEO), and geostationary (GEO) constellations. By controlling these gateways, SatPort aims to provide the necessary physical infrastructure for data transmission as the demand for diverse satellite connectivity grows.

This move aligns with SatPort’s broader strategy to scale its footprint, following a recent agreement to develop ground station capacity for Telesat’s Lightspeed network. With EQT maintaining its financial backing, the company is positioning itself to serve as a critical utility provider for the space industry, independent of individual satellite operators.
