Scandic Expands with Franchise Hotel in Köping and Underground Stockholm Hotel

Scandic Hotels Group is expanding its hotel portfolio with the addition of a new franchise hotel in Köping, Sweden, scheduled to open in January 2027. The company is also planning a unique 135-room Scandic Go hotel to be built underground on Drottninggatan in central Stockholm.

The Köping hotel will be operated by Norlandia Hotel Group and will feature 110 renovated rooms. This expansion aligns with Scandic's strategy to grow its franchise network.

In partnership with property owner Axfast, the Stockholm hotel aims to provide a quiet accommodation experience beneath the bustling city streets. Construction is expected to commence in 2026, with the hotel opening to guests in 2027.

Scandic also released its annual general meeting minutes in May 2026 and issued its first-quarter interim report for 2026 in April, which indicated a stable quarter with strong booking levels. Share transactions by executive committee members related to the company's incentive program were also disclosed.
