Scandic Hotels to open third property in central Hamburg

Scandic Hotels is expanding its footprint in Germany with the signing of a long-term lease for a third hotel in central Hamburg. The property will be located in the redeveloped district surrounding the city’s central train station, an area currently undergoing a transformation into a mixed-use neighborhood.

The hotel is expected to open in 2028 and will provide up to 328 rooms. The site offers proximity to major transit links, including subway and commuter lines, targeting both business and leisure travelers. Scandic is partnering with B&L Group for the development, a firm the company has collaborated with previously.

This expansion aligns with Scandic’s stated goal of increasing its total room portfolio by approximately 15,000 units by 2030. As Germany's second-largest city and a major logistics hub, Hamburg remains a priority market for the Swedish hospitality chain.
