Scandic Hotels to open third property in Hamburg by 2028

Scandic Hotels Group, the largest hotel operator in the Nordic region, is expanding its footprint in Germany with a new property in Hamburg scheduled to open in 2028. The hotel will be located within the StadtKontor district, a redevelopment project focused on transforming former office space near the city's main train station into a mixed-use urban area.

The hotel will feature up to 328 rooms and is being developed in partnership with the B&L Gruppe. The project emphasizes the reuse of existing building structures to facilitate sustainable urban revitalization in the St. Georg district.

CEO Jens Mathiesen stated that the addition reflects the company’s strategic focus on the German market. This announcement follows a series of expansion plans disclosed by the group this year, as it aims to add approximately 15,000 rooms to its total portfolio by 2030 across its Nordic and European markets.
