Scandic Identifies Finns' Top Four Domestic Travel Destinations
Scandic Hotels Group has identified the most popular domestic travel categories for Finns. The growing trend of local travel is reflected in the hotel chain's statistics, with family and spa breaks being particularly popular.

Scandic Hotels Group has identified four favoured categories within the Finnish domestic travel market. As local travel becomes more prevalent, the hotel chain lists spa retreats, family packages, city breaks, and renovated classic hotels as the most popular types of holidays in Finland.
"Consumers today are increasingly considering their carbon footprint, and thus we are seeing growing demand for domestic travel," stated Christian Borg, Chief Commercial Officer at Scandic, in a press release. Borg highlighted that summer weekends and events in cities are highly sought after at the hotels, and a holiday at the beginning of the week can offer a more affordable option.
Spa stays, such as at Scandic Aulanko and Ikaalisten Kylpylä, attract travellers seeking relaxation regardless of the weather. Family packages often include tickets to amusement parks like Linnanmäki or Moomin World, along with accommodation and breakfast. City breaks offer culture and experiences in cities such as Helsinki, Tampere, and Rovaniemi.
Scandic has also renovated several of its classic hotels, including Scandic Kallio in Helsinki and Marski by Scandic, offering updated spaces and services. The chain operates on 31 locations across Finland, covering both urban destinations and sites that facilitate nature tourism.
Scandic Hotels Group is the largest hotel company in the Nordics, with nearly 280 hotels and approximately 58,000 hotel rooms. In Finland, the chain operates 61 hotels under the Scandic brand, as well as international brands such as Hilton and Holiday Inn.
