Scandic Opens Themed Hotel in Helsinki
Scandic Paasi hotel has opened in Helsinki's Siltasaari district. The hotel's interior design focuses on telling stories about the building and its surroundings.

The Scandic Paasi hotel opened its doors in Helsinki's Siltasaari district on August 14, 2012. The new hotel is located adjacent to the recently restored and expanded Helsinki Congress Paasitorni building.
The hotel features 170 rooms spread across three buildings representing different eras. The interior design, created by Swedish architecture firm Stylt Trampoli, aims to recount the building's and the area's colorful history. Different interior styles, such as the 1920s "Spectacular," the 1950s "Leisure," and the 2010s "Conscious," are intended to offer a unique hotel experience.
"Scandic Paasi is a characteristic hotel for guests who want to experience something unique. The stories about the colorful personalities that influenced life in Siltasaari over 150 years are being retold in our hotel," stated Aki Käyhkö, Country Vice President of Scandic Finland.
The building incorporates wallpaper designs that replicate styles first produced by Georg Rieks in Siltasaari in the 1830s. The hotel also features its own wallpaper design showcasing the work of historical figures. Scandic Paasi has also been awarded the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
