Scandic Hotels Group is continuing its expansion in Germany with the upcoming opening of a new hotel in Berlin in the third quarter of 2026. The company has signed a lease agreement for an unoccupied 214-room hotel in the western part of the city, which will undergo a comprehensive renovation to align with Scandic's brand and operational standards.

Upon its opening, the hotel will become Scandic's third property in Berlin, bringing the company's total room capacity in the city to 992. Berlin is considered one of Europe's largest and most dynamic hotel markets, attracting both leisure and business travelers.

Jens Mathiesen, President & CEO of Scandic Hotels Group, highlighted Berlin's importance as a market where Scandic already operates two well-located hotels. He noted the city's role in hosting major trade fairs, conferences, and cultural events, ensuring year-round demand for accommodation. This marks Scandic's second collaboration with AXA Investment Managers in Germany, following a similar agreement for a Stuttgart hotel signed in late 2024.

The new hotel is strategically located near the Kurfürstendamm shopping street and numerous corporate offices. Post-renovation, it will feature modern conference facilities, an appealing restaurant and bar, and a fitness area with a sauna. Its excellent public transport links will ensure easy accessibility for guests. Scandic will also invest in technical and sustainability upgrades during the renovation, aiming for the Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification for the property.
