Scandic Hotels has entered into an agreement with Bane NOR Eiendom to operate a new hotel in Ski, a municipality located outside Oslo, Norway. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2026 and will be housed in a 15-story building adjacent to the Ski train station.
The new hotel will feature 220 rooms, modern meeting and conference facilities, a ground-floor restaurant/cafe, and a rooftop terrace offering city views. Ski is expected to experience significant growth in the coming years, supported by upgrades to its train station and town center, as well as the development of new residential areas. The travel time to Oslo will be halved to 11 minutes upon the opening of the new Follo line railway in December 2022.
"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to open our first hotel in Ski. This will further strengthen our position in the Oslo region, and I believe the hotel will become a much-needed meeting place for everyone who lives and works in this great city," said Asle Prestegård, Country Manager of Scandic Norway.
With its central location in Ski and proximity to the capital, the hotel is anticipated to attract both leisure and business travelers. The 15-story building will also include office spaces, aiming to become a landmark in the city. Bane NOR Eiendom is developing the project as part of a larger plan for the Ski station area.
Scandic Ski will adhere to the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the strictest environmental certification for hotels, focusing on low energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The interior design will incorporate circular economy principles, and the building will also receive BREEAM Excellent certification for its high technical and environmental standards.
