Scania and Higer launch new bus range in British market
Truck manufacturer Scania and Chinese bus builder Higer have unveiled the new Scania Fencer bus range in Great Britain. The launch marks a new step in their 15-year partnership.
Scania, the truck manufacturer, and Higer, a Chinese bus and coach builder, have introduced the new Scania Fencer bus range to the British market. This launch represents a further development in their 15-year collaborative partnership.
"With the new Scania Fencer range in our offer, we will strengthen our position in the market and continue driving the shift towards a sustainable transport system," stated Anna Carmo E Silva, Head of Buses & Coaches at Scania. The collaboration with Higer is a cornerstone of Scania's global bus and coach strategy, enabling the company to serve customer demands with premium products.
The partnership, initiated in 2004, focused on developing high-quality buses and coaches. This collaboration has resulted in the Scania Touring coach, which has become the largest exporter of high-end coaches from China. Over 3,000 Scania Touring coaches have been delivered to more than 50 countries worldwide.
A dedicated production facility was established in Suzhou, China, in 2016. This facility operates with the same lean production principles as Scania's global manufacturing operations. The Scania Fencer range is designed to encompass all city bus variants, including low-floor, low-entry, single-deck, and double-decker models, providing a new platform for Scania's bus business in the UK.
