Scania and Saab to Supply Tactical Vehicles to French Armed Forces

Scania France and Saab have entered into an agreement with the French General Directorate of Armament (DGA) to supply 16 tactical vehicles to the French armed forces. The vehicles are Scania V3P chassis, to which 16 Giraffe 1X radars will be mounted. An additional Giraffe 1X radar will be provided for testing and evaluation purposes.

Deliveries are scheduled to take place during 2026 and 2027. The contract also includes the supply of spare parts, training, and technical support. Scania France and Saab have formed a temporary business grouping (GME) to manage the contract.

According to Scania France's leadership, the contract highlights the company's expertise in designing and producing tactical vehicles tailored to operational needs. The V3P carrier vehicle is based on a high degree of standardization with civilian Scania ranges, which reduces development cycles and leverages the proven reliability of Scania vehicles.

The Giraffe 1X is a compact, high-performance 3D radar already in service in several countries. It is capable of performing air defense, counter-drone operations, and site protection, and is software-controlled for continuous updates against emerging threats.
