Scania dealer Finmec supports mining operations with truck rentals
Scania dealer Finmec provides heavy vehicle rentals in Western Australia's mining regions, enhancing operational efficiency and safety in demanding conditions.

Port Hedland-based Scania dealer Finmec has strengthened its position by offering heavy equipment rental services to the region's mining and rail industries. The company rents out Scania trucks designed to withstand the area's demanding conditions, including dust, heat, and rough terrain.
Finmec owner Daniel Finch emphasizes the suitability of Scania vehicles for the region's challenges. "We chose Scania because the conditions in the Pilbara are very tough," Finch stated. Approximately 80% of their rental fleet operates off-road, and the company has found Scania trucks to be reliably capable in these environments. The vehicles' features, such as heavy-duty chassis, robust drivetrain, and good payload capacity, are cited as key advantages.
The company's fleet comprises various Scania models, including 6x4, 8x4, and 4x4 configurations, used for diverse roles. These include service trucks carrying fuel and coolant, water carts for dust suppression, and tipper trucks for ore movement. The 4x4s have also been converted into 32-passenger off-road buses for crew transportation.
Finmec's business model focuses on reliability and customer support, offering repair, maintenance, and equipment hire across mining, transport, and civil sectors. Scania Finance Australia has supported Finmec's fleet acquisitions, providing financial solutions that enable the company to respond swiftly to client needs.
Finmec has grown from a single ute in 2007 to a business employing nearly 100 people. The company's success is built on local expertise and its ability to manage the challenging operational environment of North-West Western Australia.
