Scania Establishes Charging Solutions Company

Scania CV AB has established Erinion, a new company specializing in private and semi-public charging solutions to support customer transitions to electric transport. The new entity aims to accelerate the adoption of electric trucks by installing 40,000 charging points at customer sites by 2030.

Erinion will provide solutions for depot and destination charging, intending to ensure high fleet uptime and facilitate the shift to zero-emission vehicles. Scania has set a goal for 50 percent of its European sales to be electric by 2030.

Industry studies suggest that the majority of electric vehicle charging will occur at depots and customer facilities. These solutions enable predictable charging schedules, optimized charging power, and improved battery health. Charging outside peak hours can also reduce electricity costs.

Erinion will offer tailored solutions encompassing hardware, software, installation services, and operational support. Initially, the company will operate in Sweden, Norway, the UK, the Netherlands, France, and Germany, with a subsequent global rollout. Erinion's services will be available regardless of vehicle brand.
