Scania expands damage repair workshop in Kokkola
Scania's heavy vehicle damage repair workshop in Kokkola is expanding its operations due to increased demand. The expansion aims to speed up and improve the efficiency of repair processes.

Scania is significantly expanding its heavy vehicle damage repair workshop in Kokkola to meet growing customer demand. The company plans to establish two additional repair teams and hire four new mechanics, which will accelerate and enhance the repair of vehicles such as trucks, construction machinery, and even specialized equipment.
The Kokkola Scania center's damage repair workshop is recognized for its ability to repair a wide range of vehicles and machinery, including unusual items like ice resurfacers and log house machines. While trucks constitute the majority of repair jobs, the specialized expertise also covers construction equipment and tractors.
Historically, the Kokkola workshop has been a pioneer in heavy vehicle damage repairs since the 1980s. Currently, the company is also developing the recycling of "value parts," meaning used but good-condition spare parts, by utilizing Scania's own dismantling facilities in Sweden and Belgium. This approach reduces environmental impact and improves cost-effectiveness.
Mechanics emphasize that the work requires patience and systematic handling, especially for large projects like repairing timber trucks that have overturned. The job demands an understanding of how metal behaves and an artistic touch. The company aims to reduce customer downtime during repairs, but repairs cannot commence until the insurance company has made a decision.
