Scania Expands Electrification Offering for Industrial Off-Road Applications
Scania is launching Scania Industrial Batteries, a new organization headquartered in Sweden, to enhance its electrification portfolio for industrial off-road applications, including mining and construction.

Scania is expanding its electrification portfolio with the launch of Scania Industrial Batteries, a new organization based in Sweden. The unit is dedicated to industrial off-road applications such as mining, construction, and material handling.
This launch follows Scania's acquisition and carve-out of Northvolt Systems' Industrial Division in April 2025. Scania Industrial Batteries is now positioned to deliver a fully integrated solution to customers.
The company's off-road portfolio includes fully electrified battery and electric motor systems, software, connectivity, and support services, engineered for demanding conditions. The new battery packs, offered in Core and Compact platforms, aim to simplify electrification across various industrial applications with capacities ranging from 21 to 624 kWh and voltages up to 1000 V.
The market for electric off-road equipment is expanding rapidly. Scania anticipates increased adoption of electrified solutions in sectors like construction and mining, driven by significant energy cost savings and emissions reductions. The company aims to lead this transition.
Scania Industrial Batteries draws on over seven years of experience and more than 12 million operating hours from previous battery system deliveries in the mining, construction, and agricultural sectors, with manufacturing facilities in Poland and an R&D center in Sweden.
