Scania Introduces NEXT ERA Truck Range for China
Scania and the TRATON GROUP have launched the NEXT ERA, a new tractor product range specifically designed for the Chinese market. Developed and produced in China, the vehicles will begin deliveries in March 2026.

Scania, alongside the TRATON GROUP, has officially unveiled its NEXT ERA tractor product range, tailored for the Chinese market. The new line, which signifies an "In China, with China" approach, will be produced at Scania's Rugao Industrial Hub. The company aims to redefine value in China's competitive long-haul and volume transport segments with this offering.
The NEXT ERA is built upon the TRATON Modular System principles, incorporating extensive local market knowledge to meet the specific demands of Chinese long-haul operators. Key features include optimized fuel performance, proven reliability, and a driver-centric cab environment. The vehicle integrates a digital cockpit and intelligent driving systems, designed to connect seamlessly with China's local digital ecosystem for enhanced efficiency and safety.
At the core of the driveline is the TD13 engine, part of TRATON's Common Based Engine architecture, delivering up to 500 hp and 2550 Nm of torque. This is coupled with an advanced gearbox and Predictive Cruise Control for optimized total cost of ownership. The planned product lineup will consist of 6×4, 6×2, and 4×2 tractor configurations, suitable for express, cold chain, and general freight applications.
Scania is establishing a dedicated sales and service network, NEXT ERA Commercial, to market these vehicles independently of its existing channels in China. The network is set to launch with approximately 80 outlets and 150 service vehicles, designed for flexibility and scalability. The company highlights a focus on superior total cost of ownership and customer support throughout the value chain.
The launch marks a significant commitment from Scania and the TRATON GROUP to sustainable growth in China. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in March 2026, following the official launch journey extending into the first quarter of 2026. All 1,000 units of the limited launch edition have reportedly been reserved by dealers pre-event.
