Scania Launches 460 HP Gas Truck, Expands Offering in Brazil
Scania has introduced new, more powerful gas-powered truck models in Brazil, offering increased load capacity and range.
Brazil – Vehicle manufacturer Scania has expanded its line of gas and biomethane-powered trucks in Brazil by launching two new power versions: 420 horsepower (HP) and 460 HP. The new models, particularly the 460 HP variant, elevate the standard for sustainable transport in the country by providing an extended range of up to 650 kilometers.
The introduction of these new models aims to meet a wider spectrum of transport needs, both on-road and off-road. The lineup will be available with 4x2, 6x2, and the new 6x4 drive configurations. Notably, the 6x4 version with 460 HP and 2,300 Nm of torque will enable the towing of large combinations, such as nine-axle road trains. The company has already secured a significant order for 20 units of the 460 6x2 model from Logás S/A.
Scania will publicly unveil the 460 HP gas model for the first time at Agrishow 2024, held in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil, from April 29 to May 3. Sales for these vehicles are now open, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the second half of the year. The company emphasizes that these new models represent a significant step toward more sustainable transport solutions for Brazil's agricultural and other industries.
This expansion is part of Scania's ongoing strategy to promote the transition to cleaner fuels. Scania has been a pioneer in developing gas-powered trucks in Brazil since 2019 and has established extensive infrastructure and partnerships to support the growth of gas-based logistics in the country.
