Scania launches new engine range, expands electric vehicle focus
Scania has introduced a new 13-liter engine range offering up to 8% improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. The company is also increasing investment in electric vehicle development.

Automotive manufacturer Scania has launched a new 13-liter engine series, reporting up to an 8% reduction in fuel consumption compared to current models, alongside significant decreases in CO2 emissions. The company highlighted that these engines are also compatible with biofuels, supporting its decarbonization goals.
These developments are backed by research and development investments exceeding two billion euros. Scania is committed to the Science Based Targets initiative, which sets internationally recognized, science-based climate targets. The company was the first major heavy commercial vehicle producer to join this protocol, focusing on reducing emissions not only from its products but also from its own operational activities.
Scania believes that internal combustion engine vehicles will remain dominant in most transport operations for many years. However, the company is simultaneously accelerating its investment and production of hybrid and electric vehicles. Projections suggest that by 2030, electric trucks could account for half of Scania's sales in Europe.
The company's publication, PERCORSI magazine, details these initiatives, featuring insights into the new Super range, customer adoption of electric vehicles, and various support services aimed at promoting sustainable transportation.
