Scania's Parts Logistics Centre (SPC) located in Opglabbeek, Belgium, operates as a central hub for the manufacturer's global spare parts distribution. The facility, covering 125,000 square meters, equivalent to 18 football fields, stocks around 130,000 different Scania parts.
With 850 employees, the strategically positioned centre in northeastern Belgium handles approximately 8 million orders per year, operating 24/7 to ensure components reach Scania's parts centres and regional warehouses worldwide.
"Our clear focus is on guaranteeing maximum uptime for Scania engines and constantly shortening lead times," stated Thijs Jacobs, Warehouse Manager at Opglabbeek. The centre strives to maintain a 90 percent immediate availability of parts at Scania dealerships.
Dealership stock is replenished daily from the SPC. For parts not locally available, the distribution setup aims for rapid delivery, targeting 95 percent of such parts within 12 hours. This system ensures a total parts availability of 99.5 percent within 24 hours. The Opglabbeek facility also stores complete engines to offer comprehensive solutions.
