Replacement vehicle from Scania Rent ensures transport continuity

Logistics deliveries for haulage contractor Kimmo Taipale were at risk of interruption following a serious roadside collision that damaged his Scania truck in early February. However, a replacement vehicle provided by Scania Jyväskylä's service department and Scania Rent enabled deliveries to continue on schedule, despite a lengthy wait for the insurance company's compensation decision.

The accident occurred on the Tikkakoski highway when a passenger car swerved to avoid a raccoon dog and collided with the side of Taipale's truck. The truck sustained significant damage to its front corner, but both drivers escaped unharmed. Kimmo Taipale Oy has operated in the logistics sector for over 30 years, establishing a reputation for reliability.

While obtaining repair time at Scania's own service center is typically not an issue, the insurance company's two-month delay in issuing a compensation decision created a difficult situation, as the company could not inform its clients of potential delivery delays for such an extended period.

Scania Rent promptly offered a substitute vehicle. Scania sales representative Vesa Katalkin identified a suitable distribution truck with a full-side opening cargo body that met the company's needs. This arrangement allowed the damaged truck to be repaired without disrupting delivery schedules. The damaged truck was repaired in Jyväskylä within three days, after which the haulage company resumed operations with its own Scania.
