Scania to cut 750 positions in Sweden as part of organizational changes

Swedish truck and bus manufacturer Scania has announced significant organizational changes affecting its operations in Sweden, leading to a redundancy notice for 750 positions.

The restructuring primarily impacts the HR, People & Culture departments and central functions within the commercial units, including sales, marketing, and commercial operations. Approximately 400 of the affected roles are within HR, with the remaining 350 in commercial units. The notice does not apply to blue-collar employees.

Scania cites rapid changes in the global landscape, driven by technological development, regionalization, and new market conditions, as the reason for the adaptation. CEO Christian Levin stated that the decision, while difficult, is necessary to strengthen the company's competitiveness and continue its leadership in the shift towards a sustainable transport system.

Union consultations are currently underway. Scania emphasized its commitment to managing the process respectfully and effectively for all employees, while simultaneously building an organization better prepared for future challenges.
