Scania unveils modular protected cab for defense vehicles
Scania has introduced a new modular protected cab at the Eurosatory 2026 defense exhibition, integrating ballistic protection into its existing vehicle architecture.

Scania has debuted a new protected cab solution at the Eurosatory 2026 trade show in Paris. The development allows defense customers to incorporate armored protection into standard vehicle configurations without transitioning to a specialized, separate platform.
The cab provides ballistic and blast protection compliant with STANAG 4569 levels 1 through 3. It is designed for compatibility with the company's 4x4, 6x6, and 8x8 chassis, while adhering to strategic mobility requirements, such as the UIC GA train tunnel profile. By utilizing the same cabin environment as standard models, the manufacturer aims to maintain operator ergonomics and control.
Manufacturing takes place at Scania’s Swedish facilities, integrated directly into the standard production line. This approach enables the use of existing support structures, spare parts inventories, and maintenance networks, which the company claims will improve operational readiness and lifecycle cost management for military fleets.
