SciBase Secures First U.S. Payer Coverage With Highmark
Swedish medtech company SciBase Holding AB announced it has received its first positive medical policy from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield for its Nevisense skin disease detection device.

Swedish medtech company SciBase Holding AB has achieved a significant milestone in its U.S. commercialization strategy, announcing its Nevisense skin disease detection device has secured its first positive medical policy from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
This decision marks a critical point for SciBase, enabling the Nevisense technology to transition from a predominantly out-of-pocket payment model to covered care through a major U.S. private insurer. This addresses one of the primary barriers to broader clinical adoption of the technology in the United States, which represents SciBase's largest commercial market.
SciBase has already demonstrated strong commercial momentum in the U.S. without widespread private payer reimbursement. The addition of Highmark's coverage is expected to introduce a new growth driver for the business, expanding the number of dermatology practices and patients who can access Nevisense within a reimbursed framework.
The Highmark policy covers the use of Nevisense for evaluating suspicious pigmented lesions when a biopsy is being considered. The insurer cites guidelines from the NCCN and the American Academy of Dermatology in its decision. SciBase plans to continue its engagement with other payers in the U.S. market.
