Scientific Games Wins Communitas Award for Social Responsibility in Germany

Scientific Games has been honored with the Communitas Award for outstanding achievement in corporate responsibility, recognizing its unique wood pallet recycling project in Germany.

The international award, presented in the "Ethical and Environmental Responsibility: Environmental Initiatives" category, acknowledges the company's partnership with Bodelschwingh-Stiftung Bethel, a major social institution in Germany. This collaboration gives used wooden shipping pallets a second life while creating meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

The initiative began when Scientific Games donated hundreds of wooden pallets used for delivering instant lottery tickets to German lottery organizations. To prevent landfill waste, the untreated wood was transformed into birdhouses and toys, handcrafted by members of the disability community at Bethel's Kracks workshop. These new wooden items were sold through Bethel's store, generating revenue that funded the organization's programs, workshop operations, and future initiatives for individuals with disabilities.

"It is an honor to receive this award for this project, which is an excellent example of our worldwide commitment to investing in locally driven initiatives that have measurable ecological and social impacts," said Andrew Jackson, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Scientific Games. Dunja Vukotic-Finkler, Head of Instant Tickets & Service Operations, highlighted how the initiative is rooted in daily operations and provides ecological and social benefits.

This 2026 award follows two Communitas Awards Scientific Games received in 2025 for its SG Tech Project, which refurbishes and donates technology to local schools, and for the company's volunteer engagement in a STEAM career mentoring program for young women. Scientific Games supports government-regulated lotteries globally, generating billions annually for charitable programs in health, education, and the environment.
