SeAH Aerospace & Defense to Supply Airbus with Aluminum Alloys
South Korea's SeAH Aerospace & Defense has signed a long-term agreement to supply high-strength aluminum alloys to aircraft manufacturer Airbus, becoming the first Korean materials company to become a direct supplier.
Seoul, South Korea – SeAH Aerospace & Defense (SeAH A&D) announced a long-term agreement to supply high-strength aluminum alloy materials to aircraft manufacturer Airbus. This contract makes SeAH A&D the first Korean materials company to establish a direct supply relationship with Airbus.
Under the agreement, SeAH A&D will begin its product certification process in the second half of this year. The company plans to commence full-scale production and supply starting in 2028. The high-strength aluminum alloys are critical materials for aircraft fuselage and wing structures.
The agreement, signed before final product certification, is a strategic move to address Airbus's need to secure supply chains amidst rising aircraft demand and material availability challenges. SeAH A&D is expected to solidify its position as a key global supplier of aviation materials.
The company already supplies materials to entities including Boeing, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), and Embraer. A new manufacturing facility in Changnyeong, South Korea, is set to begin operations in 2027 to meet growing demand across Asia and globally.
