Sea's Monee and Great Eastern Partner on Insurance for Shopee
Sea's digital financial services unit, Monee, has partnered with Great Eastern to offer travel, motor, and electric vehicle insurance via the Shopee platform in Singapore.
Monee, Sea's digital financial services arm, announced a partnership with Singapore-based insurer Great Eastern. The collaboration aims to offer a range of insurance products to consumers through the Shopee e-commerce platform in Singapore.
The offerings include travel insurance covering trip cancellations, flight delays, and lost baggage, alongside motor insurance policies. A key focus of the motor insurance is specific protection for electric vehicles, including coverage for private charging stations and outpatient medical costs from electric shock during charging.
The policies are underwritten by Great Eastern General Insurance Limited and distributed by MoneeInsure Agency SG Private Limited, with Shopee Singapore serving as the marketplace. Sea rebranded its digital finance unit, previously known as SeaMoney, to Monee in 2025.
This move into electric vehicle insurance aligns with Singapore's broader transition towards EVs and the expansion of its charging infrastructure. It follows a previous insurance partnership Monee launched on Shopee, offering pet insurance with MSIG.
