SEC Proposes Crypto Custody Rule Changes, Pepeto Exchange Goes Live

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has put forth new rules that could significantly ease the custody of cryptocurrencies for funds and investment advisors. The proposal, released October 2, aims to broaden the range of approved custodians, thereby reducing barriers for institutional investors looking to enter the digital asset market. This development follows a strong return of ETF inflows and notable price increases for cryptocurrencies like Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL).

These regulatory shifts are expected to channel more capital into established cryptocurrencies such as ETH and SOL, both of which have experienced substantial gains throughout 2026. Ethereum is currently trading around $2,680, and Solana is priced near $119, both showing recovery from their summer lows. While these major players offer a degree of stability, the newly launched Pepeto exchange and its associated Pepeto token (PETO) are capturing attention in the altcoin space.

Pepeto has reportedly raised over $11.1 million, with its token valued at $0.0000001898. The project is spearheaded by the same co-founder behind the original Pepe coin, which previously peaked at a $11 billion market cap. This iteration of the project includes a functional swap tool, a token checker, and zero-fee trading facilitated by its PepetoSwap platform.

PepetoSwap features an integrated scanner designed to vet smart contracts and prevent potentially risky transactions. The platform supports various order types and offers a 161% APY on staked tokens. Market observers note that while ETH and SOL are established assets, emerging projects like Pepeto, backed by a clear roadmap and an experienced development team, might present significant growth opportunities prior to listing.

The market awaits the SEC's final decision on custody regulations as Pepeto continues its development and expansion. Investors considering these markets are advised to conduct thorough research into the risks associated with both large-cap and smaller-cap cryptocurrencies.
