Secunet Joins CharIN as Core Member to Shape Electric Mobility Standards
Cybersecurity firm secunet Security Networks AG has become a core member of the Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN). The move aims to advance the global standardization of charging systems for electric vehicles.
Secunet Security Networks AG, a cybersecurity company, has joined the Charging Interface Initiative e.V. (CharIN) as a core member. The initiative is working to establish the Combined Charging System (CCS) as a global industry standard for electric vehicle charging, thereby promoting the adoption of electromobility.
Secunet brings its significant expertise in IT security to the organization. CharIN currently counts over 200 industrial and automotive companies worldwide among its members. These companies collaborate in focus groups and task forces to further develop and implement the CCS standard.
The company is currently leading the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) task force within CharIN. PKI is a cryptographic system designed to ensure security during the charging process, particularly for functionalities like ISO 15118's "Plug & Charge" standard. Secunet has prior experience in the development of ISO 15118.

As a core member of CharIN, we want to help integrate and anchor IT security into the industry standard and thus remove a current obstacle to the spread of electromobility.
