Essen, Germany – Secunet Security Networks AG announced on August 18, 2020, that its konnektor device, with the "eHealth" software version, has successfully passed the multi-stage approval process. On August 17, the gematik, Germany's telematics infrastructure regulatory body, officially granted approval for the device to be used in active operation.

The "eHealth" version introduces several new medical applications, including emergency data management (NFDM) and the electronic medication plan (eMP). It also includes all necessary functions for using the "Communication in Healthcare" (KIM) service. Secunet states these applications provide genuine medical added value and simplify workflows for medical practitioners and institutions.

Existing installations of the Secunet konnektor are prepared for the "eHealth" version and can be upgraded via an online update. Users can enable the new NFDM and eMP functionalities through licenses obtained from their telematics service providers. This applies to both the version for doctor's offices and the version for data centers, suitable for hospitals and large pharmacies.

The Secunet konnektor has been used to connect to the telematics infrastructure since late 2018, developed in collaboration with eHealth Experts GmbH. The company aims to meet not only technical requirements but also customer demands for usability and user-friendliness. Secunet anticipates over 70,000 installations of its konnektor by the end of 2020.
