Secunet provides automated border control gates for Vilnius Airport
Secunet Security Networks AG has installed ten automated border control gates at Vilnius Airport. The solution is the first in Europe to integrate facial and fingerprint recognition.

German IT security company secunet Security Networks AG has installed ten automated border control gates, known as easygates, at Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania. The installation, completed in August 2019, aims to provide passengers with faster and more secure border crossings.
The gates at Vilnius Airport are the first in Europe to combine both facial and fingerprint biometric recognition. This multi-modal identification feature was requested by airport operator Lithuanian Airports to enhance both security and passenger flow efficiency.
The installation process was rapid, with ten gates set up and operational in under four weeks. secunet also supplied a monitoring application, enabling border control personnel to oversee multiple gates simultaneously from their workstations. Furthermore, the system connects to Lithuanian authorities' background systems for identity verification.
With this deployment, Vilnius Airport becomes the 16th European airport to utilize secunet's easygates. The implementation of automated border control systems also positions Lithuania to better prepare for the upcoming European Entry/Exit System (EES), which intends to streamline border processing.
