secunet receives approvals for classified information cloud solution

German cybersecurity firm secunet has obtained all necessary approvals for its "SINA Cloud" solution, enabling the processing of classified information under German regulations.

3 October 2026

German cybersecurity company secunet is the first provider to receive all relevant approvals for its "SINA Cloud" solution, allowing for the processing of classified information in compliance with the German Classified Information Handling Regulations (VSA). The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has approved the solution's security functions up to and including the "GEHEIM" (secret) classification level.

This approval marks a significant step for cloud transformation within the classified information sector in Germany. secunet is expanding its ecosystem of sovereign cloud solutions and making it available to other German cloud service providers and operators. The company had previously secured approvals for individual components of the solution, with the latest approval confirming full functionality.

Classified information refers to data that must be kept secret for the benefit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Digital processing of such information requires extensive measures, adherence to numerous standards, and the use of approved IT security products. These regulatory and technical requirements have historically slowed the adoption of cloud technologies within German public authorities and security-sensitive industries.

"SINA Cloud is a game changer for handling classified information," stated Dr. Kai Martius, CTO of secunet. "It now enables public authorities and companies subject to secrecy regulations to modernize their IT in a legally compliant manner. The solution reduces dependence on non-European providers, supporting sovereign digitalization efforts, which is particularly critical given current geopolitical developments." The solution is based on open-source components and leverages secunet's established SINA security solutions.
