Secunet Security Networks AG has announced planned changes within its management board. Axel Deininger, formerly a board member, assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on June 1, 2019.

Deininger succeeds Dr. Rainer Baumgart, who retired after more than 18 years in the position. The board has also appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) Torsten Henn and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Dr. Kai Martius as new board members, effective June 1. The management board now consists of four members: Deininger, Henn, Martius, and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Thomas Pleines.

"As a leading provider of complex and high-quality IT security solutions, secunet is uniquely positioned in the growing market for cybersecurity," said Axel Deininger. "Alongside our strong business in IT security and IT high security for public customers, we will increasingly focus on cybersecurity solutions for industry. We will also support our customers' digital transformation in areas such as 5G, secure cloud, and edge computing. Furthermore, we will focus more internationally in the future."

Secunet specializes in IT security and the protection of IT infrastructure, with a strong presence in the public sector. The company aims to leverage these management changes and a strategic shift towards industrial cybersecurity and international expansion to further solidify its market position.
