SEG Solar secures site for 4GW solar cell plant in Texas
SEG Solar has acquired land in Houston for a 4 GW heterojunction solar cell facility. The $950 million project is expected to create 700 local jobs.

SEG Solar has finalized the acquisition of a site in Houston, Texas, intended for the construction of a new solar cell manufacturing facility. The company plans to invest $950 million into the project, which aims to add 4 gigawatts (GW) of annual production capacity to its operations.
The facility will be dedicated to producing heterojunction (HJT) solar cells, a technology increasingly favored for its efficiency in power conversion. SEG Solar projects that the plant will generate over 700 full-time jobs, bolstering the local manufacturing sector. This expansion occurs as solar manufacturers move to localize supply chains within the United States to leverage domestic tax incentives and reduce logistics dependencies.
The announcement represents a significant increase in the company's regional manufacturing footprint. Further timelines regarding the groundbreaking and commencement of operations are expected to follow as the development enters the permitting and engineering phases.
