Sempra Infrastructure Faces ECA LNG Delays, Port Arthur LNG Progresses
Sempra Infrastructure's ECA LNG Phase 1 project in Mexico will see its commissioning extended due to damaged refrigerant compressors. Meanwhile, the company advances its Port Arthur LNG export facilities in Texas on schedule.

Sempra Infrastructure is advancing key priorities, but its ECA LNG Phase 1 project in Ensenada, Mexico, is experiencing an extended commissioning process. The facility, which achieved initial liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and shipped its first cargo in June 2026, was temporarily shut down for inspections. During this period, damage was discovered in the project's refrigerant compressors.
The company now expects ECA LNG Phase 1 to reach substantial completion in the fourth quarter of 2026. Despite this delay, Sempra Infrastructure anticipates its earnings contributions for 2026 and 2027 will remain within Sempra's previously issued guidance ranges.
Concurrently, Sempra Infrastructure continues construction on its Port Arthur LNG Phases 1 and 2 project in Port Arthur, Texas. These phases are expected to add 26 million tonnes per annum of export capacity. Construction for both facilities is reported to be on time and on budget. Additionally, the Port Arthur Pipeline Louisiana Connector has been placed in service, and the related LA Storage project is on track to support natural gas supply to the Port Arthur LNG facility.
The company is also progressing with the planned sale of Ecogas México. The transaction received unconditional approval from Mexico's national antitrust commission (CNA) last week and is expected to close in August. The sale is projected to generate approximately $500 million, supporting Sempra Infrastructure's strategy of recycling capital for reinvestment in energy infrastructure projects.
