Sempra Sells Ecogas as Part of Capital Recycling Program
Sempra has completed the sale of its subsidiary Sempra Infrastructure's Ecogas natural gas distribution network in Mexico. The transaction is part of the company's strategic capital recycling initiative.

Sempra announced on August 20, 2026, the completion of the sale of Ecogas México, S. de R.L. de C.V. (Ecogas) by its subsidiary Sempra Infrastructure. Ecogas operates a natural gas distribution network in Mexico, serving over 600,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Sempra stated that the sale advances its strategic capital recycling program, which aims to free up capital from stable, long-term assets to fund new growth opportunities. This strategy allows the company to reinvest in projects with higher growth potential.
Ecogas has been a part of the Mexican energy landscape since 1991, with its network spanning several key industrial zones. Sempra has been actively reshaping its North American energy infrastructure portfolio, focusing on areas like liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities and renewable energy projects.
This divestiture aligns with Sempra Infrastructure's strategy to concentrate on its core businesses and significant growth ventures, including LNG terminals and low-carbon energy solutions. The capital generated is expected to support the company's ongoing development pipeline and strategic investments.
