Senckenberg displays new exhibition on amphibians

The Senckenberg Museum in Görlitz is opening a new exhibition on May 18, dedicated to the diverse world of amphibians, including frogs, toads, and newts.

The exhibition, titled "Amphibios – The Miracle of Transformation," explores the complete life cycle of these creatures, from their aquatic larval stage to their terrestrial adult form. It also highlights unusual reproductive behaviors, such as young developing under the skin or in the parent's stomach.

The exhibition features both native and exotic species, aiming to educate visitors about the variety of amphibians. It also addresses the concerning reality that many amphibian species are currently endangered, noting that Germany itself is home to 18 different amphibian species.

An opening event is scheduled for May 17 at 6:00 PM. Following the opening, reptile expert Uwe Prokoph will give a presentation on his expeditions in the Western Sahara and southern Morocco. The exhibition will run until the end of October.
