The Senckenberg Centre for Human Evolution and Palaeoenvironment's new campus in Görlitz is nearing completion. The facility, comprising five buildings with approximately 8,300 square meters of usable space, will consolidate non-museum activities of the Senckenberg Institute.

Completion is scheduled for 2026, at which point five existing buildings in the city center will be vacated. The new campus will accommodate extensive scientific collections, modern workspaces for researchers, administrative offices, and teaching facilities, including a library and event hall.

The project's approved total construction costs are currently €75.7 million. Funding is provided by tax revenues based on the Saxon State Parliament's budget and grants from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The State Office for Real Estate and Construction Management, Bautzen branch, is overseeing the construction.

Professor Karsten Wesche, director of the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History Görlitz, stated the new building will be a center for science and research of local and international importance. The move aims to modernize research infrastructure and improve collaborative opportunities.
