Senckenberg Seeks Postdoc Researcher in Mammalian Evolutionary Genomics

The Senckenberg Society for Nature Research (SGN) is recruiting a Postdoc Researcher (m/f/d) specializing in the Evolutionary Genomics of Mammals. The position, based in Frankfurt am Main, is scheduled to commence on November 1, 2026, and is a temporary contract for two years. Salary will be in accordance with the collective agreement for the state of Hesse (TV-H) at the E13 level.

Senckenberg, a member of the Leibniz Association, has a history of over 200 years dedicated to researching the Earth system. Its Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (SBiK-F) aims to understand the intricate relationships between biodiversity and climate change.

The successful candidate will join the working group led by Professor Dr. Axel Janke. The role involves conducting genomic research on mammalian evolution and speciation, including studies on gene flow, population genetics, and phylogenomics. The researcher will apply and develop bioinformatic tools for analyzing genomic data. Responsibilities also include teaching university courses and supervising Master's and Bachelor's theses.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a related field, with demonstrated skills in evolutionary, population, or phylogenomics. Experience in population genomics, genome assembly, and script programming (e.g., R) is required. Fluency in English is essential.
