Senop introduces integrated fire control system for Carl-Gustaf weapon
Patria's subsidiary Senop has developed an integrated fire control system (AFCD TI) for the Carl-Gustaf weapon system. The system enhances the weapon's capability in all lighting conditions.
Helsinki – Senop, a subsidiary of Patria, has introduced the Advanced Fire Control Device Thermal Imager (AFCD TI) system for Carl-Gustaf support weapon systems. The development was carried out in cooperation with Saab AB, aiming to improve the weapon system's usability and accuracy.
The AFCD TI is the first fully integrated fire control system for the Carl-Gustaf M4 and M3 weapons. It combines a ballistic calculator, laser rangefinder, and both day and thermal cameras into a single device. The system is reported to improve hit probability against both stationary and moving targets in all lighting conditions, including complete darkness.
Saab representative Michael Höglund emphasized the importance of cooperation for the weapon system's continued development. "Carl-Gustaf is a world-leading support weapon. We want to keep the system updated to meet users' increasing needs in a demanding battlefield environment," Höglund stated.
Senop's Managing Director Aki Korhonen highlighted the benefits of the new system. "AFCD TI offers a number of performance-enhancing functionalities in one device, which is a significant difference compared to a traditional day and clip-on combination," Korhonen commented. The system weighs 1.5 kg, making it the market's lightest fire control system designed for Carl-Gustaf use.
Final qualification of the system is nearing completion, after which it will be available to Carl-Gustaf M4 and M3 users. The AFCD TI is also compatible with AT4 weapon systems.
