Sephora has opened its first "Store of the Future" in China, located on East Nanjing Road in Shanghai. This facility represents the brand's second global iteration of the concept, following a previous launch in Singapore, and emphasizes the integration of technology into traditional prestige beauty retail.

The store features AI-driven makeup trend generation and skin analysis powered by big data. RFID sensors are deployed to provide consumers with ingredient information and reviews, while mobile point-of-sale systems are intended to reduce wait times. The inventory includes roughly 230 products from over 35 international beauty brands.

Alia Gogi, President of Sephora Asia, stated that the store is designed to prioritize experiential retail by using digital touchpoints to manage the consumer journey. The location also includes a "Beauty Live Studio" intended to host masterclasses and community-focused events.

According to Maggie Chan, Managing Director of Sephora Greater China, the store serves as a component of the company's efforts to deepen engagement with the Chinese beauty market. The company intends to utilize the space to analyze consumer behavior and preferences to inform future retail operations.
