Sephora rolling out sensory-friendly hours nationwide
The beauty retailer will reduce music volume, minimize strong scents, and adjust in-store screens during designated "Quiet Hours" to accommodate neurodivergent shoppers.

Sephora has announced it will expand its "Quiet Hours" initiative to all U.S. stores nationwide. The program aims to create a more comfortable shopping environment for neurodivergent customers, including those with autism and ADHD, by reducing sensory triggers.
During these designated hours, Sephora locations will lower music volume, adjust in-store screens, and minimize strong fragrances. The company has not yet released a specific schedule for when these hours will occur.
The initiative was piloted in 32 stores across eight markets, receiving positive feedback from both customers and employees. Sephora reported that the majority of neurodivergent customers found the Quiet Hours significantly improved their shopping experience.
Furthermore, the company stated that 90% of clients surveyed found the stores to be "more inclusive and welcoming for all" during these times. This move aligns with a broader trend in retail toward creating more accessible and accommodating shopping experiences.
