Serena Williams' Investment Firm Rebrands to Starfire Ventures
Serena Williams' investment firm, formerly Serena Ventures, has been rebranded as Starfire Ventures. The firm has backed 16 unicorn companies.

Serena Williams' investment firm has undergone a rebranding, changing its name from Serena Ventures to Starfire Ventures.
The firm's strategy has resulted in 16 portfolio companies achieving unicorn status, meaning they are valued at over $1 billion. Williams stated the name change aims to allow the company to grow beyond her personal brand. "I wanted it to be something that lives on," she explained regarding the rebranding.
Williams described her investment approach as approximately 90% philosophy and 10% instinct. Starfire Ventures focuses on identifying and investing in successful ventures with strong potential for financial returns. The firm has institutional investors and operates with a clear business objective.
In addition to her investment activities, Williams served as an entrepreneur-in-residence at the Reckitt Catalyst program, mentoring emerging founders. She highlighted the program's focus on underrepresented entrepreneurs. Williams noted that approximately 70% of Starfire Ventures' portfolio consists of companies founded by women or people of color, emphasizing this is a strategic investment choice rooted in identifying overlooked market opportunities, not philanthropy.
Starfire Ventures continues to seek out promising companies for investment, aiming for both financial success and to broaden the landscape of entrepreneurial support. The firm maintains a rigorous investment standard, only backing companies projected to deliver significant returns for its limited partners.
