Serval rewards employees for network referrals

Serval, an AI-native enterprise service management company, has introduced a unique employee referral program that financially rewards staff for bringing in new talent.

The company offers a minimum of $20,000 for each referred candidate who joins the company. Payouts are increased for harder-to-fill positions and senior roles. This strategy has proven highly effective, with more than half of Serval's current team being hired through employee referrals.

This program moves beyond a simple recruitment tactic, aiming to foster a new employee experience where staff are active contributors to the company's growth engine. Kaz Hishida, a founding engineer and talent leader at Serval, has dedicated significant time to recruiting, particularly as the company rapidly expanded from 20 to 140 employees in one year.

"Talent acquisition has become the single most important function for a startup growing that quickly," Hishida stated. This approach embeds every employee in the company's growth journey and strengthens the overall corporate culture.
