French AI infrastructure firm Sesterce has announced plans for a significant AI campus development in Jämsä, Finland, to be located on the grounds of the former Kaipola paper mill. The proposed investment is valued at over €10 billion.
The initiative aims to establish a European AI campus that will operate using renewable energy sources. The project seeks to enhance Europe's digital infrastructure and boost its competitiveness. It will focus on developing supercomputing and computing infrastructure specifically for AI applications on the existing industrial site.
This development is expected to significantly contribute to the economic vitality of the Jämsä region. During the construction phase, the project anticipates employing approximately 2,000 individuals. Once operational, it is projected to create around 300 permanent jobs.
