SFO plans separate terminal for wealthy travelers
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) plans to build a new terminal designated for high-paying travelers. The airport is inviting bids for firms to develop and operate the facility.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has plans to construct a new terminal exclusively for affluent travelers seeking to bypass public areas. The airport is currently soliciting proposals from companies to develop, build, and operate the private facility.
The proposed terminal would serve as a parallel access point for commercial flights, aiming to offer a private, luxurious, and expedited experience. This would include a dedicated TSA screening area and private transportation on the tarmac. The designated site, known as "plot 42," spans over 75,000 square feet.
SFO expects to finalize a contract by the end of the year, with a target opening date of 2028. The airport will accept proposals until October. This initiative follows a trend seen at other major international airports that offer premium services for elite travelers.
Several other U.S. airports, including Los Angeles International and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, already operate similar private terminals. European airports like London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle have also implemented such facilities for discerning travelers.
