20 September 2026

Chinese camera accessory manufacturer SGImage has announced the release of its new AF 18mm F2.2 LE APS-C camera lens, with initial availability for Fujifilm's X-mount cameras. The lens went on sale on September 20 for 698 yuan (approximately $96 USD). SGImage has indicated plans to release versions for Sony E-mount, Nikon Z-mount, and Micro Four Thirds mounts in the future.

The lens features an 18mm focal length and a maximum aperture of F2.2, designed for APS-C format cameras. Its optical construction comprises 8 elements in 6 groups, including one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) element and four high-refraction elements. The lens has a metal body, weighs approximately 122 grams, and measures 29.5mm x 66mm. The minimum focusing distance is 0.18 meters.

It incorporates an STM (Stepper Motor) for quiet and fast autofocus, making it suitable for video recording. The aperture diaphragm consists of 9 blades, intended to produce pleasing bokeh. The lens construction is entirely metallic, suggesting durability.

This release places SGImage in competition with established lens manufacturers for the popular Fujifilm X-mount system. The lens offers a compact and relatively affordable option for photographers seeking a wide-angle prime lens for their APS-C cameras, broadening the choices available in this segment of the market.
