The substance, with the chemical formula C8H14O2S2 and CAS number 1077-28-7, is designated for use in animal feed. Its reported functions include improving growth performance, coordinating the metabolism of sugar, fat, and amino acids to enhance animal immune function, and protecting and promoting the absorption and transformation of antioxidant nutrients like Vitamins A and E in feed. It is also intended to improve production performance in livestock and poultry, including egg production, particularly under heat-stress conditions.
