Shanghai Electric showcased its AI-driven smart factory solutions on July 25, 2026, at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026), highlighting advancements in robotics and industrial AI agents.
Shanghai Electric, a manufacturer of high-end equipment, presented its comprehensive portfolio of AI-driven smart factory solutions at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026) on July 25, 2026. The display featured advanced humanoid robots with 41 degrees of freedom, pipe inspection robots with ±1 mm precision, and 51 industrial AI agents.
The company stated these solutions are designed for demanding manufacturing environments, addressing challenges such as confined spaces and intricate manipulation tasks that require sustained precision. Shanghai Electric aims to combine the power, accuracy, and stability of machinery with human experience and judgment to create a new paradigm of human-machine collaboration.
Key robotic products introduced included the "SUYUAN" bipedal humanoid robot, suitable for inspection, material handling, and assembly tasks. The "TUOYUAN" wheeled humanoid robot and "Mermaid" bionic wheeled humanoid robot demonstrated capabilities in connector insertion and material sorting. An autonomous robot for internal pipe edge processing was also highlighted for its precision in restricted areas.
Shanghai Electric also exhibited core robotics components, such as a planetary roller screw offering enhanced load capacity, and the "DexHand" robotic hand for versatile gripping applications. Furthermore, the company launched 51 AI agents under its "StarCloud Intelligent Manufacturing" series, covering research and development, production, and operation and maintenance processes.
The company also released an "AI Smart Factory Technology White Paper," proposing an active development architecture for real-time production data optimization. This architecture is designed to enable self-awareness, self-decision-making, and self-execution within the factory by integrating process flows, industrial software, agents, and intelligent devices.
