Shanghai Electric Presents Energy Transition Solutions at Enlit Asia

Shanghai Electric presented three solutions designed to support the energy transition in Southeast Asian countries at the Enlit Asia 2026 conference held in Jakarta. The event, which gathered over 11,000 industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators, served as a platform to showcase solutions addressing the region's growing energy needs and environmental challenges.

The company's three key solutions focus on reducing carbon emissions from existing thermal power systems, enhancing the integration of renewable energy into grids, and improving the stability of island power grids. Additionally, the solutions aim to promote the use of low-carbon fuels in the maritime and aviation industries.

Specifically, the "High-Efficiency Power & Decarbonization" solution is designed to assist countries like Indonesia in reducing their energy sector's carbon footprint. This includes modernizing power plant units, facilitating fuel switching, and optimizing systems. The company offers modular turbines capable of operating with hydrogen blends and retrofitting solutions for coal-fired power plants to improve thermal efficiency.

The "Grid Modernization & Resilience Upgrade" addresses the challenges of island grids, such as renewable energy integration and grid stability. This solution incorporates synchronous condensers, energy storage systems, and solar-based solutions to enhance grid performance and reliability.

The "Power-to-X" solutions, building on successful pilot projects, cover the production of green hydrogen and methanol, along with related logistics. Shanghai Electric aims to expand these solutions to the maritime and aviation sectors within ASEAN, thereby supporting the adoption of low-carbon fuels.
